BOOK: Depression Lied To Me
Chapter: Fixable by Tamara Waugh

I have a chapter within this book called ‘Fixable’ which tells my story and my journey of healing through trauma and abuse.

About the book:

Depression is a liar. The whispers we hear that tell us we’re not enough; the doubts and judgments that we cast upon ourselves; the belief that we cannot rise, no matter what we do…

These are the lies spoken by Depression. But, what if those lies were called out? What if those who were silenced by Depression found their voices and spoke THEIR truths?

The women who have co-authored this book share raw, vulnerable experiences that have shaped their journeys throughout life-many have endured trauma in various forms. They have also reclaimed themselves, healed through challenges, and now share their truths with the hope that masks of depression will continue to fall as more and more of our stories begin to be told.

BOOK: How to do the work by Dr Nicole LePera, The Holistic Psychologist

In ‘How to Do the Work’, Dr Nicole LePera offers both a manifesto for self-healing and an essential guide to creating a more vibrant, authentic, and joyful life. Drawing on the latest research from both scientific research and healing modalities, Dr LePera helps us recognise how adverse experiences and trauma in childhood live with us, keeping us stuck engaging in patterns of codependency, emotional immaturity, and trauma bonds. Unless addressed, these self-sabotaging behaviours can quickly become cyclical, leaving people feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, and unwell.

In How to Do the Work, Dr LePera offers readers the support and tools that will allow them to break free from destructive behaviours to reclaim and recreate their lives. Nothing short of a paradigm shift, this is a celebration of empowerment that will forever change the way we approach mental wellness and self-care.

Dr Emma Woodward – The Child Psychology Service.

Emma is a highly experienced child psychologist, mum to 4 boys, and known for her down to Earth communication style advocating for children and young people in the midst of difficult and chaotic childhoods.

With over 25 years of experience working with children, young people, their families, and schools across the UK and NZ in a variety of roles she brings grounded and real experience to inspire change in practice and empower those not yet able to advocate fully for themselves.

Having spent time in foster care, left school with no qualifications, and being homeless in her teens, Emma brings real depth from the intersection between lived experience and acquired knowledge and highlights why it is so important not to rely too heavily on one or the other. Her passion lies in highlighting the ways in which trauma has deeply embedded itself throughout all of our lives and enabling a more trauma-informed society by exploring how we can all make a paradigm shift to create a more human-centric and nervous system-friendly approach to life on this planet.

Her recent TEDx Talk, ‘How to Parent in a Messed up World’ has received over 200k views since December and invites us all to become more curious, connected, and compassionate.

“Being trauma-informed suits everybody and detracts from nobody”
